Saturday the 14th

Friday we didnt go out preaching but had our meeting. I had a part in the front school with a younger sister, Brenda. The talk was entitled 'Were we made to live simply for a few years then die?' It was an interesting topic to discuss with someone younger, but I tried to make it as simple as possible and apply the Benefit book suggestions. It went well and I felt confident.

Saturday:
That morning my mom, brother and I drove to the meeting for field service. We had a group of 35 go out. I thought it was a good number. My moms study, who recently got baptized, joined us in doing return visits. She got baptized last year with her youngest daughter and my brother. She had to stop smoking and make a few attitude changes, but of course, they were worth it!
Well, the first call I joined my brother on was at the open flea market or tianguis, where my mother dropped us off. We walked up and down a few blocks searching for his call Giovanni, but didnt find him. My mother called us to the car and we drove to one of her return visits. She had a good conversation with the man. You can tell he used to be on drugs since he is slightly slow. Our morning activity wasnt that long.

Thursday

Thursday:
Thursday was another service day. I went out from the Navarros home, accross the street. Sandra L. took me and my brother to our study with some siblings. I studied with the sister, Tanya, and Ziv studied with her little brother Adrian. I study chapter 1 from the BT book with her. Ziv is reading the Bible Stories book with the young boy. He likes learning. We were picked up about 30 mins later. The car group and I did some NH's in the area. We found about 4 who spoke Spanish and added that. We also found a sister from the Mixteco congregation who is from Oaxaca. She had her 15 year old son Felix, with her and her granddaughter. It was very nice to meet her. The sister took my brother, two more sisters and I to the tianguis, or open flea market, and chose to walk around. We did public witnessing and spoke to 5 different people. Ziv returned to visit a man he met last week. Giovanni. He asked him many questions about our beliefs, our stance on blood and meetings. He took him the BT book. Meanwhile, I spoke to a man named Hugo, a deportee, who now lives here selling pitbulls. I know, scary. I took out the famous Truth tract and read the 2nd question. I went again on Saturday but didnt find him. We walked some more and a young boy stopped us to offer us a cellphone deal. He gave us a flyer, but we noticed he spoke English. Ziv placed some literature with him and we conversed with him. His dad got deported and his family is from Southern California. He now works and is getting used to it here. Then I met a man named Jesse who was selling various home appliances. I asked him for the price of something in English, and he replied in English. I placed the Bible brochure with him because he said he reads the Bible. He seemed interested in knowing about the Bible in English. He also asked when I could return since he has a 15 yr old daughter. I will go back soon. On our way to our home we stopped at a cafe and asked about the specials. The main cook spoke English and we preached to her too. We got home and fixed up the house and studied a bit. That afternoon we had Teen Nite. Connor, a young brother from the Pacifico English, congregation conducted it. He is from Tenessee originally but has been here for 5 years now with his family. We had a total of 11 kids show. I enjoyed the chapter which was on lonliness. We had lots of feedback and it was motivating. Jehovah has provided everything us young ones worry about! I love how he cares for us.
I will write more about the rest of the week tomorrow. I will also attach photos. Night!

Wednsday

Wednsday:
Ziv and I were picked up by brother Henderson, an elder in our congregation. He is also a pioneer and likes sharing interesting articles with us. He took my brother and I to an OXXO, which is like a 7/11, and bought us hot chocolate and snacks for lunch. We arrived at the meeting for field service and I was parterend with Sandra L. She and her family moved from L.A. about 1 year 1/2 ago. Ziv was assigned to another brother. Once we reached the territory I started to talk with Sandra about Paradise, and what she looks forward to the most. She said everything. Well, shortly after I switched partners and joined George Avila, another elder who moved from Fresno with his wife. We talked about service, pioneering and other experiences. I like him. He had to tell the sisters something, and while I waited I saw a man walking down the street. He had a cap on, some baggy sweats and looked as if he had just walked 5 miles. Anyways, I stopped him and asked him if he spoke English. He did and though he was breathing heavily, I asked him if he was a Bible reader . NO. But he did say he has an interest in God. I commended him. Then I asked him if he thought mankinds future would get any better. He thought change depended on every individual person.  I pulled out the  January magazines and took him to pages 16 and 17. Since he had never read the Bible before, I asked him if he though the Bible could offer us a glimpse of the future. He wasnt sure, but said, 'Well, yeah, probably.' I read the 4 questions and then asked him if we could read over the first question box together. He agreed and I began to read it, and then read the READ scriptures. After we finished analyzing that I read a final scripture and he welcomed another visit. His name is Tony, and I think he's living with a girlfriend. He lived at the home we had previously knocked at and found no one home. Im glad we stopped him!
For lunch we went to the Avila's home and ate the lunch we had brought and the snacks Merlin H. had bought us. It was pleasant. At 1:15 we had the afternoon service meeting and a car group arranged to do Return Visits. The car group was made up of Ziv, Judy M., Keith B, Benjy P. and myself. I went to two calls in the area and I was able to have a door-step study with a young girl. After doing the calls of some of the others, we went to visit Ruben. He was the man I had spoken to about 2 weeks ago, and I finally was able to take him a Bible. As a last return visit we went to see Peter, the man outside of the bakery. He was sitting outside, like usual, but he looked distant and gloomy. He has nothing, literally. I think he sleeps inside of an old Chinese Restaurant and keeps his backpack with few belongings in a Rehab center. Thats it. No family here, no means of life. Nothing. Well, Keith joined me this time and we both sat next to him. We continued the chapter we had left off on. I noticed that I need to use a louder voice when Im reading with him, because the bakery is on a main street and quantities of people walk by or into the bakery. I found out that he cant read when theres not much light or the words are too small. Well, as we continued studying another man approached him, and tried to interrupt. Peter got upset and said, 'Dont you see Im busy! Gosh!' I thought that was a sing of appreciation. It was cute to see how he was adamant about studying and not being interrupted during those few minutes. I invited him to the meeting and he said he had gone before. I hope he does. Since I had never given him food before, and he hadnt asked for any I gave him some oranges that had been given to me earlier that day. I felt good after studying with him and I was happy to see his sincere interest in learning. That wrapped the day and I was dropped off at home.

Tuesday Public Service

Tuesday:
I had a dear friend stay with me Monday, so the next morning she joined us in our activites through out the day. She recently returned from a trip to Mexico City and I thoroughly enjoyed the experiences she shared. She also showed us pictures of Bethel and the brothers she met in her trip. Well, my mom, brother and I, alon with Bradleigh went across to the States that day. We dressed informally but made sure to carry tracts with us and old magazines. From the moment we left our home we started to ask passersby if they spoke English. One man did speak Enlglish and we briefly spoke with him. As we neared Tijuana we stopped at a Pemex for gas and again took this as an opportunity to preach. At stoplights we'd ask the vendors if they spoke English and once we reached the border we continued doing so. We each spoke to somebody and placed literature. After crossing the border we stopped at McD's! It was a brief stop. We headed to the Library and also kept being discreet in our preaching. We checked out some books and left some English mags next to some Spanish ones. Each of us were hooked on our new books but our tummies soon reminded us of our physical need for alimentation! We were hungry and stopped at Trader Joes. I love TJ's!! :P I got a salad and the other 3 got some wraps. I had a bite of each, and they were yummy! We stopped preaching around that time...and continued on our errands that day. I thought it was a succesful day. We each practiced on developing the new methods of service, and I enjoyed it. It went well!

THATS ME ON OUR STREET WALKING BACK HOME. I LIKED SEEING THE HORSE. MADE ME HAPPY.

THIS WAS ON THURSDAY, A DAY WHERE I JOINED ANOTHER CONGREGATION IN SERVICE. I WENT OUT INTO BLVD 2000, WHICH IS ABOUT 25 MINUTES INLAND. ONCE THERE YOU CAN SEE THEIR TERRITORY, PLUS SOME OF TJ. THERE'S LOTS TO DO! IGNORE THE TRASH...THATS SOMETHING I DONT APPRECIATE ABOUT MEXICO. PEOPLE TEND TO BE CARELESS REGARDING CLEANLINESS.

Rosarito Baja News- 3

Hello!!!

So, I've been well this week. I suppose every week is a good one as long as I'm obedient to Jehovah and out their helping people. Last Friday we I went to the service meeting and only 2 other sisters showed up. All three of us went to the territory and had a succesful morning. Though the weather was getting cold and was a bit foggy, we each spoke with at least one person. I found 2 men at their homes, and I shared a Bible text with each one. I was apprehensive for a moment with the first man. He seemd like a know-it-all and I thought he was going to be synical. I was wrong! He accepted the December magazines and allowed for a return visit. The second man I spoke with was obviouslly deported. He said he has many questions about life and God. He believes in God, but isnt interested in religion. He's gone to various churches but none have satisfied him. He is currently going to Calvary Chapel and likes the Pastor. He knows that the world situation is getting crazy and thats why he's turning to the Bible for anwers. I told him I understood his feelings regarding religion and commended him for searching for the answers. Then, I read Tim 3: 1-4, 18 and asked him to tell me if he's noticed any of these descriptions now. He was very enthusiastic about the fact that what was mentioned, is actually being seen now. I also lead him to the Truth Tract and explained how we, as JW's, are looking for people who want answers from God'sWord. I read the first question box with him. We spoke for a few minutes afterwards, and I promised to return with a Bible. I need to go back tomorrow, hopefully.

After finishing the territory, the sisters took me on my call Pedro. Remember my bird poop experience? Well, thats Pedro!Though I had gone by about 3 times during the week, I found him there that morning. I read about 6 paragraphs with him and various scriptures. I noticed that he has very low reading comprehension. So, I would ask secondary questions, and stress certain clue words. Repetition is something that I have to continue to use too. His reading is good, but he also doesnt ahve a wide vocabulary. I did a brief review afterwards and I think his understanding overall is well.  Patience will help me, and of course, Jah's spirit. Pedro seems like hes truly appreciative about learning and says it, so I wont stop going!

Our meeting time has changed with the new year. I wouldve prefered an earlier time, but 4pm it is! Thats okay, at least we have somewhere to meet! About two weeks ago I had heard of a fire damaging a KH in SD. Now, yesterday I heard of a second fire, at the same KH and vandalization being done to it. It made me think of how the situation will continue to worsen, not just abroad, but also in our area. Nothing that serious has happened to our KH's locally, but we never know!

Today my mom, brother and I were ready to go out in the ministry, but the car never turned on. We each tried, but the car wouldnt even squeak. We walked to the main boulevard and did 'public witnessing'. I visited a lady call, but she wasnt home. My brother checked up on two, and he has nice brief conversations with them. My mom spoke to about 2 different men, who were both working at seperate locations.  they both spoke good English and were also deportees. She placed mags with them and hopes to return to continue the conversation.  It was a pleasant morning and also very dry and windy. It almost felt like summer. Tomorrow is Teen Nite, and Friday is our meeting. I will write more next week!

Facts of Mexico: All of the work that was being done in the Central American branches, have now been directed to the Mexico Branch. Mexico is now in charge of the literature for those countries, amongst other things. Another cool fact from June, is that 12.9% of the Publishers work as Regular Pioneers.

Hope I hear some of your cool experiences!!!!

     Your little sister,
